PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a trouble, such as deformation and breakage, when a building material for a sheathing wall is grasped by, especially, an erecting machine and a work is executed, and to have excellent sectional performance, and to be favorable in a material cost.

CONSTITUTION: In a building material 1 for a sheathing wall formed in such a manner that a plate-form steel material 2 having coupling parts 4 on both sides and an H-steel are combined together, the plate-form steel material 2 have width wider than that of a flange 3a of the H-steel and joined with the outer surfaces of a flange 3a on one side or both sides of an H-steel 3 along the direction of length. When the plate-form steel material is driven as the building material 1 for a sheathing wall, a protection metal 7 making contact with the grasping part of the erecting machine is fixed at the inside of the upper part of the plate-form steel material 2, grasped by the erecting machine and the outside of each of the end faces on both sides of the flange 3a of the H-steel by an erecting machine. A grasping surface by the grasping part comprises the protection metal 7 and the inner surface of the flange 3a.
