PURPOSE: To simplify building of deck and to reduce the cost, by a method wherein a plurality of skeleton members are disposed on a base level, a flat plate is placed thereon, an unit deck with skeleton is formed by a welding method, thereafter the resulting subassembly is turned over to join together the unit decks with skeleton by lap welding.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of skeleton members 3 are disposed on a base level 1 at intervals of given length through the aid of positioning members 2 and 2a. Thereafter, a flat plate 4 is positioned on a plurality of the skeleton members 3, and the skeleton members 3 and the flat plate 4 are joined together by an arc spot welding to form an unit deck with skelton. Thereafter, each unit deck with skelton is turned over, and ends 6 of the adjoining unit decks are joined together by lap welding to produce a car deck. This method produces less deck strain during manufacture as compared with a previous building method, and allows elimination of a marking work which is needed for positioning the skeleton members.
