Title:
BUILT-IN TYPE ARTIFICIAL ORGAN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07178124
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an endoprosthesis implanted in the blood vessel in the human body or an animal. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of filaments are spirally assembled so as to form a cylindrical lattice structure, the filaments being composed of a support member 3 made of a thermoplastic material having a high strength, such as polyetheretherketone(PEEK) or polyether sulfone(PS), and a composite material 2 incorporating inorganic fibers 4 embedded in the support member, having a high strength and made of carbon, glass, Kevlar (R) or the like. The composite material can be covered with a shell 5 which can be mixed with a medical agent so as to correspond to the support member. The shell 5 is porous. The reinforcing fiber 4 is sprayed thereover with a powder-like support material and is then drawn through a heated molding tool so as to obtain the composite material in a drawing process. Similarly, the shell is formed around the composite material. A fusible granular material such as salt is mixed in the shell material, and a washed out after molding so as to make the shell porous.
