Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the invasion of combustion gas, containing corrosive ingredients, into a nozzle and prevent the burning of the nozzle due to radiation heat from the inside of a furnace by a method wherein gas curtain is formed at the tip end of the nozzle of a gas burner upon stopping the combustion of the same.
CONSTITUTION: A gas burner tube 2 is inserted into a sleeve tube 3 and gas from a gas box 10 is sent into an annular space between both tubes 2, 3. A flow rate control valve 16, attached to the half way of a communicating tube 14, is opened and/or closed by a relay 17, receiving the signal of the opening and closing condition of a gas supplying valve 6 and outputting an opening and closing commanding signal. The flow rate control valve 16 is opened by a pressure difference between the gas box 10 and a furnace 9 while gas, introduced into the nozzle 1 of the gas burner through the annular space 12 from the communicating tube 14, forms gas curtain around the nozzle 1. The gas curtain 13 cools also the nozzle l. According to this method, the invasion of combustion gas, containing corrosive constituents such as sulphuric acid and the like, into the nozzle 1 as well as the burning of the nozzle 1 due to radiation heat from the inside of the furnace can be prevented.
