After reading in an image of a medical record by means of a scanner, a customer terminal 10 divides image data along each entry field and transmits them to a host 20. The host 20 collects only image data on the same entry field of many medical records and transmits them to a separate input terminal 301 or the like for each entry field. Division identifying information indicating what the number of each medical record is and what item the entry field is entered for is also transmitted. An input operator expands the transmitted image data, and while displaying them on the screen of the input terminal, performs an entering operation. A management center recovers the original medical records according to character data entered from the input terminals and processes the recovered medical records into an electronic medical record. The processing result is transmitted to the customer terminal 10.
