This butterfly valve for transporting the powder material has a valve casing; a valve stem provided in the valve casing; a valve element rotated together with the rotation of the valve stem to open/close a transport path in the valve casing; a valve casing seat provided on the inner peripheral surface of the valve casing and brought into contact with the outer peripheral edge of the valve element when closing the valve to secure the closing performance of the valve; and a stopper part formed projecting from the inside of the valve casing and brought into contact with at least a part of the outer peripheral edge of the valve element when closing the valve to prevent the valve element from rotating at a fixed angle of rotation or more. The stopper part is formed in outward widened shape in the transported direction of the powder material.
