Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having a proper Mooney viscosity and capable of giving a butyl rubber little in a color caused by an oxime- crosslinking reaction by adding an imidazole crosslinking accelerator to reduce the amounts of an oxime crosslinking agent and an oxidizing agent.
SOLUTION: This butyl rubber adhesive composition comprises (A) an oxime crosslinking agent (e.g. p-quinone dioxime), (B) an oxidizing agent (e.g. an amine- based oxidizing agent), (C) a butyl rubber, and (D) an imidazole crosslinking accelerator (e.g. imidazole). The component D is added in an amount of at least 0.2 pt.wt., preferably 0.2-5 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. of the component C. The component D is preferably powdery, because being added to the elastomer. The components A and B are each added in an amount of at least 0.5 pt.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the component C. When the composition is used as an adhesive for adhesive tapes, the adhesive tapes using the original color of the rubber are obtained.
