Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable for use in an automobile, robot, electronic equipment, and the like, that is excellent in the airtightness of its connection with a terminal and in mechanical strength and flexibility.
SOLUTION: In a cable having two or more cover layers provided on the outside of a multiconductor stranded wire comprising a plurality of insulating conductors twisted together, the outermost cover layer has an average thickness of 0.25 to 0.7mm and is constructed of a crosslinked material obtained when a resin composition whose base resin comprises 100-30wt.% thermoplastic polyurethane and 0-70wt.% polyester elastomer or ethylene-glycidyl methacrylate copolymer is extrusion molded and is then electron-ray crosslinked at a degree of crosslinking of 5-40%. Therefore, the cable has excellent mechanical characteristics and flexibility and is particularly excellent in terminal processability.
