The cage operation system by remote control includes: a terminal 16 for cage remote control which transmits authentication data showing a maintenance personnel, selection data of a normal and inspection operation mode and riding stair data; a cage 6 having a safety switch 11 and inspection switch 12 at an upper part thereof; and an elevator control panel 3 having a service control processing part 32 which compares the authentication data received from the terminal 16 with prestored data for authentication, and registers authentication data of the maintenance personnel when it is determined that the maintenance personnel is true, and which when receiving selection data of the inspection operation mode after the registration, switches the operation mode to the inspection operation mode and performs operation, and causes the cage to run to and to stop at the riding stair where the maintenance personnel stands by based on the riding stair data.
