PURPOSE: To provide a calcining furnace described in the titled which makes it possible to control the quantity of calcined products without decrease in combustion efficiency, by constituting it so as to make it possible to control the quantities of fuel and air which are injected separately into each air chamber made by dividing an air chamber into plural chambers.
CONSTITUTION: To an annular air chamber 3' and a cylindrical air chamber 3 divided separately is fed fuel through separate fuel feed pipes 4', 4, and combustion air by means of separate blowers 5', 5 respectively. When raw material charge through a shoot 6 is decreased, fuel and air related, for example, to the air chamber 3 is stopped, i.e., fuel and air related to the air chamber 3' is fed to a fluidized bed 2' with a valve 15 and a damper 16 closed totally. Particles of a fluidized bed 2 present above the air chamber 3 comes to a standstill because no combustion gas passes the bed. Dotted lines show a boundary between stationary and fluidizing regions of the particles. Thereby, effective cross sectional area of the furnace is decreased, decreasing the quantity of calcined products with little decrease in combustion efficiency.
