Title:
CALCIUM PHOSPHATE CERAMIC AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0597551
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a bioactive calcium phosphate ceramic having high strength by forming a coating film composed mainly of tribasic calcium phosphate on the surface of a sintered material composed mainly of hydroxyapatite.

CONSTITUTION: A surface of a formed or sintered ceramic composed mainly of hydroxyapatite is coated with a metaphosphate and baked at 1000-1350°C to obtain a calcium phosphate ceramic having a coating film composed mainly of tribasic calcium phosphate on the surface of a sintered material composed mainly of hydroxyapatite. The obtained ceramic has tribasic calcium phosphate having excellent solubility and bone substitution function locally existing on the surface of hydroxyapatite having bioactivity and high strength and, accordingly, the obtained ceramic exhibits the effect on improving the initial bioactivity.
