To provide calcium phosphate glass necessary for producing calcium phosphate fibers useful as a filler or a reinforcement for plastics, rubbers, etc., and as a heat-insulation material, a friction-resistant material, or a material for living bodies.

The calcium phosphate glass has a CaO/P2O5 molar ratio of 0.7-1 and contains, in addition to CaO and P2O5, at least one kind selected from among SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, MgO, and ZnO. The content of (SiO2+Al2O3+Fe2O3+MgO+ZnO) in the glass is 0.005-1.5 wt%, and the glass contains 3-150 ppm Pt, 0.15 wt% or less SiO2, 0.15 wt% or less Al2O3, 0.2 wt% or less Fe2O3, 0.5 wt% or less MgO, and 0.5 wt% or less ZnO. Calcium phosphate fibers produced from the glass are also provided.
