Abstract:
PURPOSE:To calculate the residual quantity and hour of a tape even in a variable speed mode by providing plural detecting means, detecting the rotary cycles of a supply reel and a take-up reel, and calculating the residual quantity and hour of the tape. CONSTITUTION:A take-up reel base rotary cycle detector 16 is provided, and the detector 16 generates a reel pulse 21. Also, the change of the intensity of light reflection from a reel base reflection plate 17 and a reflection plate 17 is detected by a reflection type photointerruptor 11, and a reel pulse 20 is generated. And the residual hour T of the tape of calculated by equation I by a microcomputer 15 based on the pulses 20 and 21. Thereby, the residual quantity and hour of the tape can be calculated correctly in parallel with the feed of the tape even in a mode where tape feed speed in fast feed or rewinding changes depending on a reel diameter. Where, reference tape feed speed is assumed as Vsp, entire length of the tape as L, the thickness of the tape as (e), and the radius of a reel hub as (r) in equation I.
