PURPOSE: To improve the operation of a measurement apparatus and reduce the measurement itme by a method wherein, even if an abnormality such as misoperation happens halfway of the successive measurement steps, the calibration factors obtained until that abnormality happens are not revoked.

CONSTITUTION: A calculation control part gives each process the state number as shown in the row VI and observes the state number to know the progressing state of the calibration process and indicates where the process is actually progressed by the designation shown in the row II. For instance, even if the standard sample injection is forgotten when the process comes to the injection mode of the step III after the steps I and II are completed, that occasion is noticed by observing an indicator and a proper injection operation is carried out and the calibration process is continued. Factors for calibration obtained in the steps I and II are stored in a memory and used in the process which follows and the speration is not restarted from the step I or II but resumed from the step III.
