PURPOSE: To output a more natural calligraphic character with connection between characters from the display and printer, etc., of a word processor and a computer, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A type font table set as a pair of two characters is prepared, and adjacent two characters are taken out from the font table as superimposing them one by one and shifting when an ordinary type is converted into the calligraphic character, then, conversion determination is performed. Then, a calligraphic document is accomplished by determining 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d the latter half of the front character of the pair of two characters and the first half of the rear character of it based on a prepared font table. Also, a more natural calligraphic type character can be generated by setting the handling of the leading character of a word, a connection state between two characters, an oblique character, and a terminating method.
