PURPOSE: To provide the method for callus induction and plant regeneration, enabling lavender's juvenile seedlings to be obtained easily and assuredly.
CONSTITUTION: The hypocotyls just after developing the cotyledons of a lavender plant are inoculated into a base medium mixed with 2,4- dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and comprised of an inorganic salt, vitamins and sucrose to induce callus. The resulting callus is then inoculated into a second base medium mixed with 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) to obtain adventitious buds. Thence, the buds are isolated so as not to attach the callus thereto, being inoculated into a third base medium mixed with 3-indolebutyric acid (IBA) to stimulate root development, thus obtaining the objective juvenile plant.
