Title:
CAM SHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02227505
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the bonding strength and reduce costs by providing grooves on the outside of a shaft member, providing projected parts respectively engaging with the grooves on each shaft hole of cams and gear fitted onto the shaft member, and bonding the shaft member to the cams and the gear through fusion of metal. CONSTITUTION:A cam shaft consists of a steel shaft member 1, and respective sintered alloy gear 2 and plural cams 3, 4 fitted on the outside of the shaft member. In this case, axial grooves 5 are formed on the outside of the shaft member 1. Further, the similar machining is performed to the gear 2 and the plural cams 3, 4 respectively. In the case of the gear 2, for example, a shaft hole 6 into which the shaft member 1 is fitted, and projected parts 11 engaging the grooves 5 are formed in the gear 2 respectively. Further, the gear 2 is impregnated with copper. After the shaft hole 6 of the gear 2 is fitted onto the shaft member 1, and the grooves 5 are engaged with the projected parts 11, these junctions are locally heated. As a result, a plated layer of the shaft member 1 and the copper impregnated into the gear 2 are thus melted and fused.
