To obtain a camera having a line-of-sight detecting device capable of instantaneously recognizing whether it is a focus detection performed based on the detection of the line of sight a focus detection performed not based on the detection of the line of sight, or a focus detection in which the focus detection is not performed, just by viewing the vicinity of a range-finding point within a finder.
This camera is provided with a line-of-sight detecting means (constituted of an infrared light emitting diode 13, a CCD sensor 14, an ocular 11 and the like) detecting the information on the line of sight of a photographer, a line-of-sight judging means judging the information on the line of sight by the processing of a CPU, a focus detection means 6 detecting a focusing point in plural areas within a finder visual field, a focusing mark displaying LCD constituting a focusing display means displaying the focusing state of the plural areas within the finder, and a high- luminance two-color LED 21 for coloring displaying a range-finding point. The range- finding point is differently displayed in different colors in the case where the focus detection is performed based on the information on the line of sight, the case where the focus detection is performed not based on the line of sight and the case where the focus detection is performed without performing the detection of the line of sight.
