To obtain a camera which is reduced in thickness and excellent in the property of gripping, in a camera using a film cartridge having a light shielding cover by providing a light shielding cover opening/closing means for opening/closing the light shielding cover and a holding part in which the light shielding cover opening/closing means is arranged and which is for holding the camera.

In an outside case 13, the holding part 13a housing/including a cartridge chamber 2a, a light shielding cover opening/closing arm 1 and a lock plate 3 is formed. The outside case 13 is formed to such a shape that a part facing the light shielding cover opening/closing arm 1 as the light shielding cover opening/closing means and the lock plate 3 as a cartridge cover opening/closing means is projected, so as to house them. The part becomes the holding part 13a and in the rear part of a pressure plate 12, the shape of the outside case along a camera body 2 is adopted. Therefore, the holding part 13a housing the light shielding cover opening/closing means 1 is formed so that space is efficiently used, the camera 2 is prevented from being larger in size and the property of gripping of the camera 2 can be improved.
