To provide a method and a means for clarifying the functions of SND1 and for treating or preventing cancers.

This cancer cell proliferation inhibitor is characterized by containing a polypeptide comprising the amino terminal region of SND1 protein or a polypeptide which comprises the amino terminal region in whose amino acid sequence one or more amino acids are deleted, replaced or added, and has a cancer cell proliferation-inhibiting activity.
