PURPOSE: To open and close protection covers only with the soft operation of an operation member, by opening protection covers upward while interlocking with the charge operation of an object focusing member.

CONSTITUTION: Though protection covers 2 and 3 are energized in the direction of opening by a spring 4, they are detained by a driving ring 5. A charge arm 5e of the ring 5 is brought into contact with a charge arm 12e of a focusing member 12, and the ring 5 and the member 12 are detained by pawls 6 and 14 respectively. When a cover opening and closing operation member 16 is turned to the left, power is supplied to a motor through a switch lever 23, and the focusing member 12 is charged against a spring 12', and charge arms 12a and 5e are turned, and the ring 5 is turned clockwise, and protection covers 2 and 3 are detained by pawls 14 and 6 and are opened upward completely. In case of closing, the operation member 16 is operates clockwise to release the detention, and protection covers are returned to original positions.
