Title:
CARBON BLACK FOR VIBRATION-PROOF RUBBER AND ITS PREPARATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000248118
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a carbon black suitable as a vibration-proof rubber which can impart a low dynamic magnification and high damping properties to a rubber component and a preparation method of the same.

A carbon black for a vibration-proof rubber has a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N2SA) in the range of 20-130 m2/g and a DBP oil absorption in the range of 50-130 ml/100 g and has surface functional groups containing a total of 25 μeq/g or less of carboxyl groups and hydroxyl groups and 700 μeq/g or more of quinone groups. A preparation method of the same comprises primary heat treatment of a carbon black with a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N2SA) in the range of 20-130 m2/g and a DBP oil absorption in the range of 50-130 ml/100 g at 1,200-1,600°C in a nonoxidative atmosphere, oxidation treatment in a 30-60 wt.% nitric acid aqueous solution or heated nitric acid and secondary heat treatment at 800-1,600°C in a nonoxidative atmosphere.
