Title:
CARBON FIBER-REINFORCED CARBON MATERIAL HAVING HIGH HARDNESS AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03197359
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve hardness by molding with heating a mixture of reinforcing carbon fiber and specific carbonaceous powder, carbonizing and subjecting to impregnating and carbonizing treatment.

CONSTITUTION: A thermosetting resin (e.g., phenolic resin) is carbonized in a non-oxidative gas atmosphere at 800-1000°C for about 1hr and crushed in a soft material crusher to obtain carbonaceous powder having ≥0.36nm d002. Next, 100 pts.wt. residual carbon of reinforcing fiber and binder (e.g. phenolic resin) eliminating the evaporating amount at carbonization of the binder is mixed with 80-120 pts.wt. said carbonaceous powder and molded with heating to obtain a molded material. Further, said molded material is heated in an inert gas atmosphere at ≤100°C/hr temperature rising rate to 800-1000°C and carbonized for about 1hr, then impregnated with pitch or an impregnating agent such as a resin capable of carbonizing, etc., thus subjected to a carbonizing treatment in an inert gas atmosphere at 800-1100°C.
