Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a carbon material with a coating film excellent in oxidation resistance on the surface.
CONSTITUTION: In this carbon material with an oxidation resistant coating layer on the surface, the coating layer consists of a surface layer and a middle layer, the surface layer is a glass layer contg. 5-50wt.% metal silicide and the middle layer is made of SiC. This carbon material is hardly deteriorated by oxidation even in the air or in an atmosphere at a high temp. of ≥1,200°C.
