Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polymer which can be chelated and favorably used for various applications.
SOLUTION: A monomer component contg. a carboxylic acid monomer represented by the formula [wherein Y represents a hydrogen atom, an allyl group, or a -(CHR3)c-W2-(CHR4)dCOOH group; R1, R2, R3 and R4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a 1-6 C alkyl group; W1 and W2 each independently represent an -NH-, -S-, or -O- group; and (a), (b), (c), and (d) each independently represent an integer of 0 to 6), for example, is polymerized to give a carboxylic acid polymer having on its side chain at least one bond selected from the group consisting of an amino bond, an ether bond, and a thioether bond and, in addition, having a carboxyl group.
