Abstract:
PURPOSE: A carcinostatic agent, containing a glycoprotein having a specific molecular weight, and separated from a green microalga, e.g. an alga of chlorella or of the genus Scenedesmus or Spirulina, as an active constituent, and having improved ability to kill cancerous cells.
CONSTITUTION: A carcinostatic agent containing a glycoprotein having a molecular weight of about 120,000 or about 70,000 separated from a raw cake or dried substance obtained by cultivating a green microalga, e.g. an alga of chlorella or of the genus Scenedesmus or Spirulina, as an active constituent. The glycoprotein has improved ability to kill cancerous cells, and exhibits powerful remedial antitumor activity against murine leukemia L-1210, sarcoma 180, etc.
