The card connector 1, capable of selectively loading a first card and a second card each equipped with an engagement part with a different shape, is provided with a first contact terminal 204 for electrical connection with a contact pad of the first card; a second contact terminal 206 for electrical connection with a contact pad of the second card; a lever member 8 engaged with the engagement part of the card inserted and moving, according to the shape of the engagement part; and a pressing member 10 for pressing the specific contact terminal in a direction away from the card, when the lever member 8 has moved by a prescribed amount.
