Abstract:

To solve not a few problems of fraudulent use by a third person, loss of PIN or theft or loss of a card at companies, and the like, where cards like a magnetic card or an optical card are used as personal identification for security protection when entering and leaving important areas.

The personal identification is performed using a biometrics technology. Feature extraction for face and countenance and a DNA pattern for an ID card holder are coded, encrypted and stored on a microchip for an ID card. The card can be centrally managed by an organization at headquarters of corporations like businesses and institutions. The personal information is registered on a server at the headquarters, and a check is performed when the ID card holder enters and leaves the important areas. Decision is made by comparing the features of the card holder with information on the ID card and registered data in order to verify them. The system can cope with mobility of people because centralized management including business offices aborad using an international communication line is feasible. The data is destroyed and erased automatically by a built-in microchip when the ID card is not used for a designate period of time.
