The reach forklift truck includes a vehicle body 1 having an operator seat 2 in its rear; the reach legs 3 and 3 provided below the vehicle body 1 to protrude forward; masts 5 and 5 longitudinally movable along the reach legs 3 and 3; and forks 7 and 7 vertically movable along the masts 5 and 5. The reach forklift truck also comprises a height detector 15 for detecting the height of each of the forks 7 and 7, and a controller 10 which disables reach-in drive by the operator's reach operation if the height of each of the forks 7 and 7 is lower than a position that is a predetermined distance higher than the height of the upper surface of each of the reach legs 3 and 3.
