Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a carpet which is light-weighted, excellent in its form and dimensional stability, and hardly generates poisonous gas and smoke even if it is burned.
CONSTITUTION: A carpet tile 1 is so constructed that a griege good is formed by a primary backing 2 made of polyester and many pile yarns 3 made of polyester, which are planted on the primary backing 2, and a backing material is formed on the back of the foundation cloth 2. In this case, as the backing material, a felt-like fiber layer 4 similarly made of polyester is used. The fiber layer 4 is needle-punched by a needle 5 from the back of the carpet tile 1 to make the fiber of the fiber layer 4 and the fiber of the griege good entangled with each other, so that the fiber layer 4 is stuck to the griege good.
