PURPOSE: To nearly prevent exfoliation even after repeated use over a long period of time, to obtain a large amt. of negative charges, to reduce the consumption of a carrier and to prolong the service life by coating the surface of the core material of the carrier with resin modified silicone having a functional group capable of reacting with an amino group in the molecule of a coupling agent.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of the core material of a carrier treated with a coupling agent contg. an amino group is coated with resin modified silicone having a functional group capable of reacting with the amino group. The functional group may be an org. acid, ester, aldehyde or epoxy group. The resulting carrier is fit for most of toners, can render satisfactory negative chargeability and improves charge retentivity. The strength of the formed coating film is high and the service life of the carrier is prolonged.
