Title:
CARRIER FOR IMMOBILIZING MICROORGANISM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02273594
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase the decomposition speed of org. matter by enhancing the concn. of anaerobic cells and to prevent clogging due to SS by forming a lumpy immobilizing carrier having a size of 5 to 50mm by entangling a large number of linear porous bodies each formed by providing pores having a pore size of 10 to 800μm to the entire region of a filament.

CONSTITUTION: A linear porous body 1 is formed by opening pores 3 having a pore size of 10 to 800μm to filament 2 having a diameter of about 0.1 to several mm over the entire region thereof. A large number of linear porous bodies 1 are entangled to constitute a lumpy immobilizing carrier provided with two-dimensional or three-dimensional open perforations 4 and having an outer shape dimension of 5 to 50mm. By this method, a cell bonding area, that is, cell concn. is increased to several to several ten times that of a conventional carrier and the activity of cells bonded to the inner surfaces of the pores 3 is kept and, further, waste water flow passages are formed between the linear porous bodies 1 and, therefore, clogging due to SS is prevented and waste water treatment efficiency is kept for a long period of time.
