PURPOSE: To make it possible to contain a lead together with the main body of an electronic component, and protect the electronic component from impact during transport by a method wherein the title carrier tape is equipped with main body storage parts to store the main bodies of electronic components and lead storage parts to store leads protruding from the main bodies, which are formed on the inner wall surfaces of the main body storage parts.

CONSTITUTION: For a carrier tape for electronic components, an embossed tape 16 formed of a synthetic resin is provided, and on the embossed tape 16, embossed parts 160 are formed with fixed intervals. On the inner surface of the embossed part 160, a main body storage part 161 to store a main body 60 of an electronic component 6 is formed, and a lead storage part 162 to store protruding leads 61, 62 is formed. While inserting the leads 61, 62 in the lead storage part 162, the main body 60 of the electronic component 6 is stored in the main body storage part 161, and the main body storage part 161 is closed from the top by a closing tape 18. Therefore, the electronic component 6 is carried while being stored in the embossed part 160 of the embossed tape 16, and the electronic component 6 is assuredly protected from impact at the time of transport.
