To obtain a carrier tape for a rapier loom having high durability compared with conventional carrier tape made of FRP and producible with reduced manpower.
This carrier tape 1 is produced by using a flat fiber structure 2 having a width nearly equal to (and slightly narrower than) the width of the tape as a reinforcing material and a resin as a matrix and has engaging holes 3 engageable with the teeth of a sprocket wheel at a prescribed pitch in the longitudinal direction. The fiber structure 2 is a three-dimensional braid and the yarn 4 constituting the fiber structure 2 is arranged without being cut at the circumference of the engaging hole 3 by turning around the hole 3. The yarn 4 is formed of a carbon fiber having high breakage strength and elastic modulus. The carrier tape 1 can be produced by arranging the fiber structure 2 in a forming mold in a state thrust with the protrusions of the mold and impregnating and curing a resin in the fiber structure.
