PURPOSE: To locally adjust the rigidity of a carrier serving as reinforcement such as rubber or a resin extruded product by causing the transverse position of a longitudinally extending means in the carrier to be varied along the length of the carrier.

CONSTITUTION: A woven carrier, e.g. a seal strip for an automobile, is formed when transverse lines 3 with loops 5, 7 formed at the right and left by a zigzag wire 1, strands 9, 11 made of a reducible material, and a strand 13 made of a non-reducible material are woven together. In first and second areas 15, 17, the reducible strands 9, 11 are located near edge regions and the non-reducible strand 13 at the center, while in a third region 19 their location is reversed. Therefore, the carrier is assembled into a polymer extruded product as support and the strands 9, 11 are reduced by use of heat or ultrasonic waves, etc. Thus, rigidity, i.e., flexibility in each region can be set freely.
