PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of inspection and maintenance by partitioning the work floor for performing the inspection and maintenance into sections corresponding with the work where each sections are adjoined to carry a car sequentially and automatically to each section.

CONSTITUTION: The line work floor 1 for performing the inspection and maintenance of a car is partitioned into each work sections 1aW1e in accordance to the type of inspection, where each work sections are adjoined on same line. After being intruded into the first section 1a, the car to be inspected is carried sequentially, automatically and intermittently to the fifth section 1e. It is carried such that a carry table 6 is mounted on a wheel conveyor 4 which is arranged on a table 2 stretching across the second section 1b and the fourth section 1d, then said table 6 is carried through an endless chain. Furthermore a separate lift 7 and a lift 9 are provided at the front and rear ends of the table 2 to lift the car up and down between the work floor face FL and the work height WL thus to carry in and out the car.
