PURPOSE: To reduce the operation procedure and to improve operability by adding FF or REW action to an EJECT action and automatically actuating the EJECT function when a tape end is detected.

CONSTITUTION: In the case that an EJECT switch 1 is depressed for less than two seconds, a microcomputer 2 instructs ordinary cassette ejection. In the case that it is depressed for two seconds or longer, the EJECT action, based on the detection of the tape end during the FF or REW action, is performed. As to the decision of the FF or REW action, the remaining quantity of the tape is detected by means of a tape end and remaining quantity detection part 4 so as to perform a take-up action toward the neel which has larger number of winding, and when the tape end is detected during the FF or REW action, the FF or REW action is stopped and the cassette is ejected by a cassette mechanism 3.
