PURPOSE: To decrease segregation and to make macro-structure uniform in the stage of solidifying a molten metal and obtaining an ingot by supplying the powder consisting of the components coinciding with or resembling to the components of the molten metal into the molten metal thereby controlling the solidified structure.
CONSTITUTION: A powder supply nozzle 7 is disposed around an immersion nozzle 2 in order to supply the powder 6 consisting of the components coinciding with or resembling to the components of the molten metal 4. The powder 6 is supplied together with, for example, an Ar carrier gas to the spacing between the nozzle 2 and a shielding plate 9 from the nozzle 7 to accelerate the formation of the solidification nuclei in the molten metal 4 and to increase the solidification rate, thereby controlling the solidified structure. The more cubic system crystal grains are thereby produced and the ingot 11 having the high cubic system crystal grain rate without having segregation is obtd.
