To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust having a PM (particulate matter) removing capability and a HC (hydrocarbon) removing characteristic, and an exhaust-cleaning device equipped with the same for use in an internal combustion engine.
The catalyst 13A for cleaning exhaust is comprised of a rhodium layer 15 consisting of rhodium, a titanium-oxide layer 16A consisting of titanium oxide, and a platinum layer 17 consisting of platinum, with the TiO2 (titanium oxide) layer 16A disposed on the upper side of the Pt (platinum) layer 17. By virtue of the synergetic effect of the individual catalyst components, carbon monoxide (CO) and NOx are eliminated, and the rate of removing HC as well as the PM-removing capability of the catalyst 13A are improved in addition.
