This catalyst converter is composed of the columnar catalyst supporting element supporting a catalyst in an opening hole and/or a through hole for letting exhaust gas flow, the metallic shell cladding the outside of the catalyst supporting element, and the holding seal material disposed between the catalyst supporting element and the metallic shell and covering the periphery of the catalyst supporting element. A distance from an end surface of the catalyst supporting element in an exhaust gas inflow side of the catalyst supporting element to an end surface of the holding seal material is set to be within a range of 0.5 to 10 mm.
