Title:
CATALYST AND METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF GASEOUS EFFLUENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05131142
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To avoid a disadvantage of formation of sulfur trioxide by using a monolithic catalyst for the oxidation reaction of hydrogen sulfide to sulfur dioxide.

CONSTITUTION: The catalyst comprises, as necessary components, catalytically active elements selected from the group containing alumium oxide, titanium dioxide, cerium oxide, zirconium dioxide, iron oxide, zinc oxide, chromium oxide, molybdenum oxide, cobalt oxide, nickel oxide, vanadium oxide and the mixtures thereof. The catalyst is extruded in a monolithic form having pores which runs parallel with the base line of the form over the entire length and having a cylindrical or a parallel hexahedral structure adopted for conveying gas through a flow passage or a duct thereof. As an another use, a monolithic carrier carrying a catalytically active phase can also be used as a carrying catalyst.
