Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject catalyst excellent in the conversion to amine and selectivity, useful as a catalyst for obtaining polyether polyamines from polyether polyols, containing specific amination catalyst(s) and cocatalyst thereof.

CONSTITUTION: This catalyst contains (A) a catalyst with a transition metal such as Ni, Ru or Pd carried on a carrier such as γ-Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2, γ-Al2O3- SiO2 or carbon, an alloy having amination catalytic activity such as Raney nickel alloy, and/or an amination catalyst of a metal oxide having amination catalytic activity such as Fe2O3, RuO2 or TiO2, and (B) a cocatalyst such as silica, alumina or titania. It is preferable that the carrier catalyst in the component A and the component B be 0.8-20nm and 1-30nm in average pore size, 0.2-0.6mL/g and 0.1-0.7mL/g in pore volume and 70-840m2/g and 90-500m2/g in surface area, respectively.
