PURPOSE: To accelerate reaction rapidly by bringing substances dissolved in solution into contact with gaseous component over a water- and oil-repellent catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: In the reaction of a solution containing at least one low-molecular organic compound with a water hard-to-soluble gas, e.g., carbon monoxide, ethylene gas, etc., a water- and oil-relellent solid catalyst, made of or covered with Teflon, polyethylene, etc., is used. Because all surface of the catalyst is not covered with water and the gaseous component easily reaches the surface of the catalyst and is adsorbed in the active site of the catalyst while the substance in the solution is easily supplied, the reduction reaction can be rapidly accelerated on the active site of the catalyst.
