Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst for reduction and removal of nitrogen oxides having effective catalytic function at ≤200°C service temp. with low-cost materials.

CONSTITUTION: Activated carbon fibers are immersed in an aq. copper salt soln., copper hydroxide is stuck to the fibers by adding a basic aq. soln. to the copper salt soln. and the fibers are treated at 600-800°C in an inert gaseous atmosphere. By this treatment, a copper compd. consisting of metallic copper and copper oxide in 0.2-5 molar ratio of metallic copper to copper oxide is stuck to the activated carbon fibers and a catalyst for reduction and removal of nitrogen oxides is produced.
