Abstract:

To provide an efficient catalytic photo-oxygenation reaction of substrates by using water as the oxygen source.

The catalytic photo-oxygenation reaction of substrates, using water as the oxygen source is provided by combining a reaction of photoelectron transfer reaction of from trisbipyridine-ruthenium (II) complex to an electron acceptor with an electron-transfer oxidation reaction by trisbipyridine-ruthenium (III) complex of manganese (III) porphyrin. By using the trisbipyridine (III) complex [Ru(bpy)33+] of a one electron oxidizing agent, a high-valence manganese-oxo complex is generated by electron-transfer reaction and highly efficient oxygenation reaction of an olefinic compound is progressed. And water is used as the oxygen source so that epoxide is highly selectively produced.
