PURPOSE: To provide a catch prevention device capable of stable operation by detecting whether an obstruction exists, and causing a control circuit to control a power window drive mechanism on the basis of the detected result.
CONSTITUTION: A control circuit 4c causes a constant voltage power supply 10 to feed power to an optical object sensor 1 only during the closing operation of a power window. Then, the sensor 1 emits a light beam to a zone involving a possibility of catch by the power window during the receipt of power. When no obstruction is detected, a non-detection signal is sent from the sensor 1 to the control circuit 4c, and this circuit 4c transmits a power window closing signal to the power window drive mechanism. Furthermore, when an obstruction is detected, a detection signal is sent from the sensor 1, and the control circuit 4c transmits a signal for stopping the closing operation of the power window, or a signal for the opening thereof.
