PURPOSE: To manufacture a CRT having excellent photoelectric characteristic and electric characteristic by arranging a laminated body containing organic dye, electrically conductive metallic oxide and/or the like on the outer surface of a face plate, and drying up the alcoholic solution applied surface while exposing to heating steam after alcoholic solution is applied thereon.
CONSTITUTION: After purifying the front surface of a face plate 2 by means of abrasive such as CeO2 and alkaline detergent, organic dye is added to solution consisting of Sn+Sb2O3, ethyl silicate mixing solvent, water and acid catalyst, and it is applied uniformly thereon so as to form a film like CTE area 8. Next, NGP area forming solution having a prescribed composition is applied (by the use of airless spray gun for low viscosity sold at a market, and the amount of solution to be used is, for example, 20ml, and for about 30 minutes) on this film like CTE area 8 by means of a spraying method so as to form a film like NGP area 9. Further, by carrying out drying by heating, for example, at 150°C for 30 minutes, strong film like CTE area 8 and film like NGP area 9 can be obtained. This CRT has a wide and stable optical characteristic and high contrast, and prevents panel electrification caused by electrostatic induction, and prevents reflection.
