To provide a cathode ray tube using demagnetizing coils capable of reducing miss-landing due to the distortion of an electron beam caused by an external magnetic field such as earth magnetism.
In the cathode ray tube, a 1st demagnetizing coil 11 and a 2nd demagnetizing coil 12 are oppositely arranged on the upper and lower sides of a funnel 7. The coils 11, 12 respectively have parts 11F, 13F in parallel with the upper and lower sides 41A, 41B of a shadow mask 4 to which conductors constituting the coils 11, 12 are opposed on the panel side and at least either one of the coils 11, 12 is divided into a plurality of element parts on the coil part excluding the parallel part. The coils 11, 12 are connected to a current supply part 30 in series so that current flow directions ix, iy are opposite to each other.
