Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an electrolyte copolymer latex free from interference problem in the use as an antibody-adsorbing latex diagnostic and useful as an immunoassay material absolutely without using a surfactant by grafting an olefin monomer to a cationic derivative of a water-soluble linear polysaccharide in water.
CONSTITUTION: This latex is composed of a copolymer of formula IV produced by grafting (A) a cationic derivative of a water-soluble linear polysaccharide expressed by formula I [X is (CH2)nR1 (R1 is NH+3, NH+(CH3)2, etc.; (n) is 1-3), etc.; 0<a<3 50,0O0≥x≥5] with (B) an olefin compound of formula II [R4 to R6 are each H or CH3; R7 is formula III (R8 is H, a 1-12C alkyl, etc.), etc.; (m) is 20-200,000] in water. The copolymer contains the component A as the stem polymer and the component B as the graft chain bonded to the stem polymer by abstracting the H atom of the OH group of the polymer. The graft ratio of the copolymer is 2-5,000%.
