To obtain the subject cationic polymerization initiator capable of activating by UV radiation or heat for curing reactive resin mixture polymerizable in cationic polymerization by specifying the structure.
This initiator is obtained by having the structure expressed by formula (R1, R2 are each an 1-9C alkyl, a 4-9C cycloalkyl, etc.; R3 is H, an 1-9C alkyl; R4-R7 are each H, an 1-9C alkyl, etc.; X- is an unnucleophilic anion). The dialkylsulfonium-halogen compound is obtained by reacting a ω-bromine derivatives having R3-R7 and dialkyl sulfide optionally cyclic compounds containing R1-R2. The product is dissolved in methanol, mixed with an equimolar sodiumhexafluoroantimonic acid solution and reacted to obtain the initiator. The initiator is dissolved in monomers or oligomers capable of cationic polymerization, absorbing UV light having peaks at 300-400 nm forming reactive cations or protons.
